You'll complete all of the items that go into the workshop and then will put all the items together. This tutorial is for Santa. It uses selections and just a wee bit of drawing.
My canvas with alpha selections. You may download it here. My color chart. Right click on it and save to your computer.
Step 1. Open up the canvas with alpha selections you downloaded. The selections that you'll need for this tutorial are all saved to alpha channel and are in the order that you will load them. Step 2. Open up the color chart you downloaded. Copy and paste it as a new layer onto your canvas. Move it to the top, out of your way. When you need a color, just click on it with your dropper tool. Step 3.Add a new layer. Load selection 1 from alpha channel (go to Selections>Load/Save Selection>Load Selection from Alpha Channel). To choose a selection, just click on the box to the left (it's circled in red in the screenshot) and navigate to the selection you want. It'll show up in the preview window on the right. Then just click "Load."
Flood fill with color #1. Float the selection (Ctrl+F). Apply a cutout (effects>3d effects>cutout), using settings in the screenshot.
Step 4. For each of the next selections, add a new layer, load the selection, and flood fill with the colors given below. Apply a cutout to each, using same settings as above.
Repeat for the other boot.
Step 6. Make the layer with the belt active. Choose your pen tool>draw lines and polylines. Set width to 2 and antialias is checked. Add a new layer. Draw some beltloops on the belt, using color #1.
Step 7. Add a new layer and move it underneath the beard and moustache layers. Choose your pen tool again and draw a little red bit for a mouth (use color #1).
Step 8. Add a new layer. Set foreground color to null, background to white. Choose your preset shapes tool>circle. Draw a small circle on the end of the hat. Float (Ctrl+F). Apply cutout.
Step 9.Add a new layer. Choose your pen tool again, and with black, draw an eye, similar to mine.
Step 10. Set foreground color to #5, background to null. Choose your pen tool again>draw freehand. Draw a lilttle shape for the thumb on his back hand.
Step 11. Delete your color chart and background layers. Merge visible layers. Save as a PSP file. What to do next: Return to the Santa's Workshop Series tutorials. Work your way through them, and when finished go to the Assembly tutorial. Enjoy the tuts! |
