The psp files for all the tutorials you've completed in this series (and anything else you'd like to add to your town).
My seamless fill tile. You may download it here.
My color chart. Right click on it and save to your computer.
Step 1. Open a new image about 900 x 400 (you want it big enough to work with), white background.
Copy the color chart and paste it onto your canvas as a new layer. Move it to the top out of your way. When you need a color, just click on it with the eye dropper tool.
Step 2. Choose your selection tool, rectangle. Draw a selection about 1/3 of the way down from the top of your canvas, and flood fill with color #1. Invert the selection (selections>invert) and flood fill with the "townsand" fill you downloaded (scale 100%, angle 0).
Step 3. Add a new layer. Choose your tubes tool and navigate to the cloud tube (set the scale to 30-40). Add as many clouds as you wish. I lowered the opacity of this layer down to 30.
Step 4. Now just add items that you've made for the town, and arrange them as you wish - you'll need to resize things down in order to fit.
Step 5. Add a new layer. I added some grassy stuff to the front of my town. To do that, use the same technique used in the scrub brush tutorial. You will find that tutorial here.
Use colors #2, 3, and 4 to do the shading. Use these settings for your airbrush: shape-round, size-20-30, hardness-100, opacity-30, step-25, density-30. Add layers and alternate the colors. Change your airbrush size down to about 3 and draw some of the wispy bits at the top.
Then use your retouch tool>smudge brush to soften things out a bit (shape-round, size 20-30, hardness-100, opacity-50, step-25, density-30).
Yours won't look exactly like mine, just play with it until you have something you like. [Hint: Do a small section of your canvas then copy and paste it across your canvas - saves you from having to draw it all the way across].
Step 6. I added a sort of roadway to my town. To do that, add a new layer and place it underneath the last layer you did. You'll be using the airbrush again (change the size up to about 40) to spray on colors - use colors #2, 3, and 4 and spray a shape for your road (put all the colors on the same layer).
Once you have a shape you like, choose your retouch tool>smudge brush again (change the size to about 30-40), and soften the colors out.
Step 7. When you're satisfied with your creation, save as a master psp file with all layers intact - that way you can go back later and change things around if you wish.
Then, merge all layers and save (as jpg or gif). And whew! Your western town is done.
I hope you've enjoyed this western town series, and I'd love to hear from you and see you creations.
