Pracken's Paint Shop Pro Tutorials

Country Farm House Series:

I decided to make a country farm house and furnish it. Everything you see in the house was created by me.

This tutorial will show you how to make the table (in the lower right corner of the house).

There are tutorials for all of the furnishings in this home, and you will find them all here.

Because there are so many items needed to furnish the house, I've tried to make the tutorials relatively easy so you'll be able to get through them all.

For this tutorial, you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro. I used version 7.04 but if you are familiar with PSP, you should be able to convert the tutorial without problems. You can download the latest PSP version demo here.

My selection files. Place these in your PSP selections folder (or any location of your choice). You may download them here.

My color chart. Right click on this and save it to your computer.

Step 1. Open a new image 350 x 350, white background.

Step 2. Add a new layer. Load selection 1 (go to selections>load from disk - then navigate to the location you placed your selection files). Flood fill with color #1.

Float the selection (go to selections>select all>selections>float OR hit the "Ctrl+F" on your keyboard). Set your background color to color #2 (you're doing this so it'll show up in your recent colors list when you apply a cutout).

Apply a cutout using the settings in the screenshot. Repeat the cutout, but change the horizontal and vertical to -2.

Step 3. Repeat step 2 for selection 2.

Step 4. Repeat step 2 for selection 3.

Step 5. Add a new layer. Load selection 4. Flood fill with color #3. Float. Set your background color to color #1. Apply cutout, same settings as before, except change the shadow color to #1.

Step 6. Add a new layer. Load selection 5, Flood fill with color #4. Float. Apply cutout as before, but use black as your shadow color.

And that's it. When you're satisfied with your creation, delete the color chart, hide the background layer, and merge visible layers. Save as a transparent psp file. It's ready to add to your farmhouse.
