Pracken's Paint Shop Pro Tutorials

Straw Wall Seamless Tiles

I 'm continuing to add to my seamless background tutorials. This is another one using PSP's filters - this one is done with the straw wall filter. The variations you can make are endless, and it's really easy to do too (not to mention fun)!.

For this tutorial, you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro. I used version 9 but if you are familiar with PSP, you should be able to convert the tutorial without problems. You can download the latest PSP version demo here.

You'll also need Sandy Blair's Simple Filters - Pizza Slice Mirror. This is a freeware filter and you will find it here.

Step 1.Open up a new image 100 x 100, white background.

Set your foreground and background colors to #2f8b88.

Choose your preset shapes tool, heart. In about the middle of the canvas, draw a heart approximately 60 x 60 (watch the numbers at the bottom of your screen

Step 2. Go to Effects>Reflection Effects>Kaleidoscope, and use the settings in the screenshot.

Step 3. Go to Effects>Texture Effects>Straw Wall, and use the settings in the screenshot.

Step 4. Now apply Simple>Pizza Slice Mirror filter (go to Effects>Plugins - and navigate to the filter).

Step 5. You can make variations by starting with a tile that you already have, or by drawing shapes other than the heart. The possibilities are endless, just get creative!

Here's another example I made. Here's the progression, starting with just drawing a squiggly line on the canvas.

And that's all there is to it. Have fun with them!
