Here's one more really easy pixel tutorial for the baby items series.
Paint Shop Pro. I used version 7.04 but if you are familiar with PSP, you should be able to convert the tutorial without problems. You can download the latest PSP version demo here.
My color chart. Right click on this and save it to your computer.
Step 1. Open up the outline you downloaded. There are two layers, a background and the outline. Make the outline layer active. Magnify the image as many times as you need to - I've magnified it x4.
Step 2. Open up the color chart you saved. To make it easier to use, you can paste it as a new layer onto your graphic and move it to the very top. That way, it's easy to refer back to, and when you're done with the tutorial, you can delete that layer.
Step 3. Set your foreground color to #1. Choose your paintbrush and set the size to 1. Paint in the areas as I've done.
Step 4. Choose your magic wand with tolerance set to about 10. Select the area inside the part you just painted. Flood fill with color #2. Keep selected.
Step 5. Float the selection (go to selections>float, or hit "Ctrl+F" on your keyboard). Apply a cutout with the following settings. Repeat the cutout but change the horizontal and vertical to -1.
And that's it. Here's my finished product, actual size.
Now you can delete your color chart layer. Hide your background layer and merge visible layers. Save in whatever format you wish (I always save as psp).
I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial, and please let me know if you have any feedback, questions, or comments.
