Dollhouse Series
Living Room: Table Lamps

dhlivingroom

Welcome to my dollhouse series tutorials! This is the living room section of tutorials.

This tutorial is for the table lamps. All of the other items in the living room can be found on the main dollhouse tutorial page, which you will find here. If you haven't already done so, please go there and orient yourself to the dollhouse tutorials, and for important information you'll need to complete the series.

Once you complete the living room, and all the other rooms, you'll assemble them all into the completed dollhouse.

Please read my Terms of Use before completing these tutorials.

This tutorial was written for Paint Shop Pro versions 9 and 7.04

For this tutorial, you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro. I used version 9, and have made comments as appropriate for PSP 7 users. I didn't test it in PSP8, but you shoud be able to complete the tutorial in that version as well. You may download the latest PSP version demo here.

My selections. Place these in your PSP selections folder. You may download them here.

Optional: Eye Candy 4000. This is a commercial filter, and you may download it here. (You can do this tutorial without Eye Candy).

My color chart. Right click on it and save it to your computer.

My image is just a guide. If you'd like to use different colors/textures, etc., feel free to do so.

Step 1. Open up a new image 200 x 200. Open up the color chart your downloaded. Paste it as a new layer onto your canvas and move to the top out of the way. When you need a color, just click on it with your dropper tool.

Step 2. Add a new layer. Load selection 1 (selections>load/save selections>load selection from disk - then navigate to the selection).

Flood fill with color #1. Apply Eye Candy>Glass, using settings in the screenshot [Note: If you don't have Eye Candy, you can use an inner bevel setting in PSP).

Step 3. Add a new layer. Load selection 2. Flood fill with a gold gradient of your choice (one comes with PSP). Set type to linear, angle 0, repeats 0.

Step 4. Add a new layer. Load selection 3. Flood fill with color #2.

Effects>texture effects>weave, using settings in the screenshot (weave color is color #3). Keep selected.

Step 5. Expand the selection by 1 (selections>modify>expand). Add a new layer and place it underneath the shade layer. Flood fill with the same gold gradient as before.

Now use your eraser brush to erase the bits on the side of the shade, leaving the top and bottom.

Step 6. Delete the color chart and background layers. Merge visible layers (layers>merge visible). Save as a psp file.

What to do next

Now continue on through the living room tutorials, in order (go here to find the tutorials index, and scroll down to the living room section to find the others). Once you have all of the items in the living room section complete, then go here to assemble it.

Have fun!
