Dollhouse Series
Bedroom: Skirted Table

dhbedroomfront

Welcome to my dollhouse series tutorials! This is the bedroom section of tutorials.

This tutorial is for the skirted table (there beside the bed). All of the other items in the bedroom can be found on the main dollhouse tutorial page, which you will find here. If you haven't already done so, please go there and orient yourself to the dollhouse tutorials, and for important information you'll need to complete the series.

Once you complete the bedroom, and all the other rooms, you'll assemble them all into the completed dollhouse.

Please read my Terms of Use before completing these tutorials.

This tutorial was written for Paint Shop Pro versions 9 and 7.04

For this tutorial, you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro. I used version 9, and have made comments as appropriate for PSP 7 users. I didn't test it in PSP8, but you shoud be able to complete the tutorial in that version as well. You may download the latest PSP version demo here.

My canvas with alpha channel selections.

My seamless textures.

You may download all of my materials here.

My color chart. Copy this and save to your computer.

Step 1. Open up the canvas you downloaded. It's in PSP format. Copy the color chart and paste it as a new layer. Move to the top of your canvas, out of the way. When you need a color, just click on it with your eye dropper tool.

Step 2. Add a new layer. Load the "bottom" from alpha channel(selections>load/save selection>load selection from alpha channel). [PSP 7 users: selections>load from alpha channel].

Flood fill with the "tablebottom" fill - set angle to 0, scale to 10. Keep selected.

Step 2. Add a new layer. Set your foreground color to #1. Choose your airbrush, using settings in the screenshot.

Spray some color onto your table skirt, similar to mine.

Step 3. Choose your retouch tool>smudge brush, using the settings in the screenshot.

Soften the color out a bit. You want it to look like folds in the fabric. Deselect.

Step 4. Add a new layer. Load the tabletop selection. Flood fill with the "tabletop" pattern - angle 0, scale 50.

Step 5. Add a new layer. Place this layer underneath the table top. Choose your tube tool>rope. Set the scale to 10. Start at the center of the table and draw a small vertical line down from it. At the end of the line, draw a little circle.

Copy it and paste as new selection. Move this selection next to it, but up just a wee bit. Continue doing this until you have added fringe to all of top of the table. [Hint: If you just do one side, you can then copy it>paste as new selection, then mirror it and place on the other side.]

Step 6. Selections>select all>select>float. Flood fill with color #2.

Delete the color chart and background layers. Merge visible layers. Save as a PSP file.

What to do next

Now continue on through the bedroom tutorials, in order (go here to find the tutorials index, and scroll down to the bedroom section to find the others). Once you have all of the items in the bedroom section complete, then go here to assemble it.

Have fun!
