Pracken's Paint Shop Pro Tutorials

Dollhouse Series
Bathroom: Room Interior

Welcome to my dollhouse series tutorials! This is the bathroom section of tutorials.

This tutorial is for the interior of the bathroom- you will make the floor, walls, baseboard, and window. Once you've completed the interior, it'll be ready to add all the other items you see in the screenshot (or items of your own choosing).

All of the other items in the bathroom can be found on the main dollhouse tutorial page, which you will find here. If you haven't already done so, please go there and orient yourself to the dollhouse tutorials, and for important information you'll need to complete the series.

Once you complete the bathroom, and all the other rooms, you'll assemble them all into the completed dollhouse.

Please read my Terms of Use before completing these tutorials.

This tutorial was written for Paint Shop Pro versions 9 and 7.04

For this tutorial, you will need the following:

Paint Shop Pro. I used version 9, and have made comments as appropriate for PSP 7 users. I didn't test it in PSP8, but you shoud be able to complete the tutorial in that version as well. You may download the latest PSP version demo here.

My canvas. Unzip it and open it up in PSP.

My seamless fills.

You may download all of my materials here.

Step 1. Open up the "dhbathcanvas" file you downloaded. [PSP7 users - this should work fine for you too].

This canvas includes three layers (a background, color chart, housefront) and alpha selections, The "housefront" layer is on top and you will always put everything underneath this layer. It's there just as a guide, so you can see how things will look in the dollhouse. You can turn its visibility on and off as you need to.

My image is just a guide. If you'd like to use different colors/textures,etc., feel free to do so.

Step 2. The selections are saved to alpha channel and are in the order you'll be loading them. To load from alpha channel, go to selections>load/save selections/load selection from alpha channel - then click on the box and navigate to the selection). [PSP 7 users: selections>load from alpha channel]. .

Add a new layer. Load selection 1 (floor). Flood fill with the "dhbathfill1" texture you downloaded. Set angle to 0, scale to 80.

Step 3. Add a new layer. Load selection 2. Flood fill with "dhbathfill2" - angle 0, scale 50.

Step 4. Add a new layer. Load selection 3. Flood fill with "dhbathfill3" - angle 0, scale 100.

Step 5. Add a new layer. Load selection 4. Flood fill with color #1. Apply an inner bevel (effects>3d effects>inner bevel), using settings in the screenshot.

Step 6. Add a new layer. Load selection 5. Flood fill with color #2. Contract by 1 (selections>modify>contract). Flood fill with "dhbathfill2" - angle 0, scale 50.

Step 7. Add a new layer. Load selection 6. Flood fill with color #2. Apply inner bevel using same settings as before.

Step 8. Choose your magic wand, hold your shift key down, and click inside each pane of the window. Go to your layers palette and make the wall top layer active (the green one). Hit the delete key on your keyboard.

Step 9. And your room is now ready for decorating. Save a copy of this as a master psp file with all layers intact. That way, you can go back later and easily change the decor of your room.

Then delete the color chart. Turn the "housefront" layer off. Merge visible layers. Turn your housefront layer back on. Save as a psp file.

What to do next

Now continue on through the bathroom tutorials, in order (go here to find the tutorials index, and scroll down to the bathroom section to find the others). Once you have all of the items in the bathroom section complete, then go here to assemble it.

Have fun!
