Welcome to my dollhouse series tutorials! This is the bathroom section of tutorials.
This tutorial will show you how to make the bathtub. All of the other items in the bathroom can be found on the main dollhouse tutorial page, which you will find here. If you haven't already done so, please go there and orient yourself to the dollhouse tutorials, and for important information you'll need to complete the series.
Once you complete the bathroom, and all the other rooms, you'll assemble them all into the completed dollhouse.
Paint Shop Pro. I used version 9, and have made comments as appropriate for PSP 7 users. I didn't test it in PSP8, but you shoud be able to complete the tutorial in that version as well. You may download the latest PSP version demo here.
Eye Candy 4000 and my glass presets. Place the presets in your EC4000 glass folder. [Note: If you don't have Eye Candy, you can still do this tutorial].
You may download all of my materials here.
Step 1. Open up the "dhbathtubcanvas" file you downloaded. [PSP7 users - this should work fine for you too]. This canvas includes two layers (background, color chart) and alpha selections.
Step 2. The selections are in the order you'll be loading them. To load from alpha channel, go to selections>load/save selections/load selection from alpha channel - then click on the box and navigate to the selection). [PSP 7 users: selections>load from alpha channel].
Add a new layer. Load selection 1 Flood fill with color #1. Apply an inner bevel (effects>3d effects>inner bevel), using settings in the screenshot.
Step 3. Add a new layer. Load selection 2. Flood fill with color #2. Open your Eye Candy filter>glass, and navigate to the "pracken_bathroom2" setting you downloaded. Apply.
[Note: If you don't have Eye Candy, you can apply an inner bevel instead (effects>3d effects>inner bevel). Use these settings.
Step 4. Add a new layer. Load selection 3. Flood fill a gold gradient of your choice (one comes with PSP) - set type to linear, angle 0, repeats 0.
Apply an inner bevel, same settings as in Step 2.
Step 5. Add a new layer. Load selection 4. Flood fill with color #3. Apply Eye Candy>Glass, using the "pracken_bathroom" preset.
[Note: If you don't have Eye Candy, you can apply a cutout. Set your foreground color to color #4. Float the selection (Ctrl+F), then go to effects>3d effects>cutout) and use settings in the screenshot. The shadow color is color #4 - right click on the shadow color box and choose it from the list of recent colors.
Step 6. Add a new layer. Load selection 6. Flood fill with color #1. Apply Eye Candy>Glass, same as Step 5.
Step 7. Add a new layer. Load selection 7. Flood fill with gold gradient.
Step 8. Set your foreground to gold gradient (same settings as before), background to null. Choose your pen tool>draw lines and polylines, using settings in the screenshot. [Note: PSP 7 users: draw tool>single line].
Add a new layer. Draw a line at the bottom of your bathtub, like this.
Step 9. Delete the color chart and background layers. Merge visible layers. Save as a PSP file.
Now continue on through the bathroom tutorials, in order (go here to find the tutorials index, and scroll down to the bathroom section to find the others). Once you have all of the items in the bathroom section complete, then go here to assemble it.
